Stretching my Limits

By Cynthia

Sometimes in life there are periods that feel like they have a theme.  For me 2017 has been all about stretching my limits.  I began the year by committing to an exercise routine.  For most of my chronic life I would begin one, but then become discouraged when a severe flare hit and would give up.  So this year I vowed to not give up.  Instead of having unrealistic expectations I approached it with my conditions in mind.  I chose exercises that didn’t hurt my body.  The most important thing I did was allowing my body the rest it needed during a flare.  Afterwards I would dust myself off and resume my workouts.  My body doesn’t always allow me to return at the same level, but as you may have heard in my podcast about stretching limits the important part is getting back on the horse not how far I ride.

Another way I stretched my limits this year was by starting a podcast in addition to blogging.  I have never been a fan of listening to or watching recordings of myself.  However this next step was so natural and enjoyable that it doesn’t bother me.  If you haven’t heard my show Dish’n with The Disabled Diva yet, be sure to check it out.  I guarantee that my producer/cohost Shane and I will put a smile on your face!

What limits have you stretched this week, month, or year?

  1. This is so true. We all have our limits and it is important to abide by them as well as carefully LISTEN to our bodies. Doing anything else can have devastating results on your health.
