The Benefits of Charcoal Soap

Have you tried charcoal soap?

I recently tried it and let me tell you this….. I would have no problem landing on Santa’s naughty list if he would be willing to drop bars of charcoal soap in lieu of lumps of charcoal into my stocking.

Seriously! Who knew that something so simple and pure could make my skin feel so good??!!

Before I share the brand I tried and why I love it so much, I want to share some of the benefits of washing your face with charcoal soap.

Benefits

* Treats oily skin

Charcoal soap removes dirt and excess oil from your skin.

* Provides flawless skin

Charcoal soap controls facial oil and draws impurities that builds up in pores and removes dead cells.

* Treats acne

It removes toxins and skin impurities which helps in the treatment of acne. It may also clear facial marks resulting from acne.

* Reduces pore size

Charcoal soap extracts dirt and grime. It also treats clogged pores and reduces their size.

* Makes skin tighter and firmer

Charcoal has the ability to make the skin firmer and tighter.

* Suitable for all skin types

Charcoal soap is suitable for every skin type. While it extracts the excessive oil from oily skin, it moisturizes and nourishes dry skin. It is also suitable for sensitive skin. It treats skin allergies and redness on the face.

* Prevents premature aging

It helps to rid your face of wrinkles and fine lines, preventing your skin from looking old, dull, and tired.

* Treats psoriasis and eczema

Charcoal soap is effective for the treatment of dry, cracked skin.

My experience

My daughter has been using charcoal soap on her face for a couple of weeks and I have used it for a week.  I have psoriasis, while my daughter has eczema and acne.  We will post a before and after review of the product we choose to try in a few weeks.  But for now we can share the following: Our skin has never felt softer! My daughter’s face isn’t red like it has been from her severe acne.

Our product of choice

There are many charcoal soaps to choose from.  But I didn’t want to try just any brand…. I wanted to make sure the soap I purchased was pure and natural.  That is why I chose the Charcoal Facial Bar from Earthley.  Their soap is made with whole plant-based ingredients to cleanse gently.

You won’t find unpronounceable ingredients in this bar of soap.  Instead you will find: Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, coconut milk, mango butter, castor oil, and activated charcoal. It is available with a spearmint scent or unscented. Spearmint scent has spearmint essential oil.  I chose the unscented and love it!! Not sure if it is just my daughter and I who haven’t noticed any odor with the unscented or if it truly has no scent. I was worried about what the natural scent would be like and turns out I had nothing to worry about.

Another thing I love about this product is how quickly it lathers up and how easily it washes off of my face.  My daughter and I both agree that our skin feels cleaner, tighter, and smoother than ever before.  We can’t wait to see how it looks with continued use.  Click here to try it yourself!

Five Benefits of Drinking White Tea

Five Benefits of Drinking White Tea

In my quest to lose the weight I have gained from years of inactivity due to chronic pain from fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, and endometriosis, I have obviously had to make dietary changes.  Choosing beverages that are calorie free and beneficial to my health is one of them.

Tea time

Due to having some strange and dangerous reactions to black and green teas many years ago, I stopped consuming tea.  However, a few weeks ago I tried white tea and was pleasantly surprised to not experience any negative reactions to it.  At home I brew the blueberry white tea pictured above.  When I am on the go I swing into Starbucks and order an unsweetened shaken iced white tea.  I love that I have found a beverage that has just enough caffeine to get me through the day, but less than coffee or black tea, and also has many health benefits.

5 Benefits of white tea

1. Antiaging Properties

As someone who will be turning 50 in the fall, I am all for anything that will help me look younger!!!  White tea may help reduce the risk of premature aging, repair damaged skin, and protect skin against the effects of ultraviolet light.

2. Improves Cardiovascular Disorder

The flavonoids in white tea help to decrease the blood pressure and may reduce the risk of various heart conditions.

3. Antibacterial Agent

White tea has antibacterial properties which can protect our skin from bacteria and other germs. Talk about a win for those of us with compromised immune systems!!

4. Weight Loss

Studies suggest that intake of white tea may prevent the formation of fat cells.

5. May Protect Against Osteoporosis

Compounds found in white tea, including the polyphenols called catechins, may lower the risk of osteoporosis by promoting bone growth and suppressing bone breakdown.

If those reasons aren’t enough for you to put down that chemical filled diet soda or energy drink, then check out these articles for even more reasons!!!

DermaWand Review

DermaWand Review

20180111_195647.jpg

*Disclosure.  Although I have received this product to review, all thoughts and experiences are mine and were in no way influenced by the company.  This post contains affiliate links.

If you haven’t heard of DermaWand, it is a device that claims it can make you look years younger without chemicals or having surgery. Soon after I turned 49 I was given the opportunity to try DermaWand.  While I am not against plastic surgery, I have had too many complications from past surgeries related to my chronic illnesses that I refuse to ever go under the knife unless it is to save my life and the last thing I want to risk is side effects from Botox.  However, I also don’t want to enter my 50’s looking older than I am.  When asked to try DermaWand I figured why not!!

What does DermaWand do?

DermaWand is an electrical device that uses the same technology as the big radio frequency machines that doctors and medical specialists use for treatments to help manage the signs of premature aging, except with a lower amplitude that’s perfect for everyday use. It produces younger looking skin by stimulating your skin while also delivering thermal energy and enriched oxygen.

Is it easy to use?

YES!!! As someone who has multiple chronic illnesses the last thing I wanted to do was add something more to my daily routine.  I panicked when I read that the kit came with exercise instructions.  I thought what the heck did I get myself into!!!  My fears were put to rest after I read the instruction booklet.  The exercises are actually different ways to move the device around your face to achieve better results and to help you tackle problem areas.  Applying the treatment to my face takes no longer than giving my teeth a good brushing.  Some days I may spend more time focusing on problem areas, but for the most part I am done within minutes.  It has been easy to add to my morning and bedtime routines.

Does it hurt?

DermaWand recommends starting at the lowest level on the dial and working your way up.  While it didn’t hurt my skin the first time I applied it to my skin, I did experience a slight stinging sensation for a little while after application in a few areas.  By my third day of using it I stopped feeling any discomfort and a week later I was ready and able to start increasing the intensity of my treatments.  Fast forward a month and I am using my DermaWand on the highest setting with the exception to the area around my eyes and above my lips. For those areas I turn it down to level 3.

Does it work?

Yes!!! I am thrilled with my results and can’t wait to see how much more the appearance of my skin improves the longer I use it.  While I use it on my entire face, I have been giving my neck extra attention.  In the before and after photo below you can see how loose and wrinkled the skin under my chin and neck were before using DermaWand.  In the after picture you can clearly see how much tighter and smoother my skin is just after one month of use.  Another perk of using this device has been winning the battle with pesky blackheads.  I had a few stubborn blackheads that disappeared after a couple of treatments.  I love how tight and smooth my skin is becoming.  In fact I love it so much that I am no longer worried about leaving the house without foundation on. Most days the only thing I apply after my moisturizer is my color correcting crème.
