Online Medical Marijuana Recommendations: Convenient or a Waste of Time?

For those of you who live in states that have legalized cannabis for medicinal use, you need to have a doctors recommendation or certification in order to purchase and use it.

The frustrating part of the process is that your primary care physician, specialist, or pain management clinic most likely won’t be the ones to prescribe or recommend marijuana for pain relief.  Some states have a list of specific doctors you must go see, while others like California and Arizona have stand alone medical marijuana certification medical offices.  These doctors are not covered by insurance and are often located in outlying or not so safe areas.  So not only do you have spend more than what you may pay for a regular doctor’s visit, you also have to drive or find transportation to an area that you most likely never go to, and find the strength and energy to do it.  Trust, me this is exactly what held me back for the first two years after I moved to California.

So what’s someone with chronic pain and fatigue supposed to do?  From 2013-2017, I visited a medical marijuana recommendation clinic once a year to renew my MMJ rec.  Each year I thought, there has to be a better way…….. And last year, I discovered that there is!!!!!!

You may have seen advertisements for online medical marijuana recommendations and wondered if they are legit? Well, if you live in California and New York, you can be approved for and renew a medical marijuana recommendation online legally and affordably with NuggMD.  The best part is that it can be done from the comfort of your home or wherever you are.  No need to travel, no worries if you are in too much pain to leave the house.

How does it work?  If you live in California or New York, you will start by clicking on the links provided below.  From the homepage you will fill out a short medical information form, seriously it takes just seconds to fill out.  Then you enter your payment information, don’t worry, your account will not be charged until after you have talked with the doctor and have been approved.  Next you will speak with the doctor.  Sometimes they are backed up and will have the doctor call you later.  A friend of mine received her call from her doctor within 10 minutes and mine called back in less than five.  Once you are approved, they will charge your account, email you a copy of your recommendation, and mail your official copy to you.  I had my official copy in my hands in less than 2 weeks.

Click here to get your California recommendation!

Click here to get your New York recommendation!

If you live in California, you are able to purchase cannabis medication ASAP, through the recommendation site!  They have contracts set up with certified cannabis delivery services. Just place your order online and wait for it to be delivered.  After you receive your official copy, you will be able to purchase your meds at any state licensed dispensary.

You may be wondering why you should bother getting a recommendation in California when anyone over the age of 21 is able to purchase since it was legalized for recreational purposes.  Here is why: 1. Having a California medical marijuana recommendation allows you to purchase stronger strains and exempts you from state taxes. 2. Many CA dispensaries also offer lower prices to medical marijuana patients. 3. It validates your medical use of cannabis. 4. While the recreational age to use and purchase cannabis is 21+, you may receive and use a medical recommendation at the age of 18.

To answer the question of is online medical recommendation services convenient or a waste of time, they are not only convenient, they are an answered prayer to the chronic pain community.

How much does it cost? For California residents a one year recommendation is $39.  Yes, there are brick and mortar places that charge less, but I am happy to pay an extra $4 to not have to leave home.  New Yorker pay $149 for a one year recommendation.

Two Simple Ways to Use CBD Isolate

I first began using CBD to combat chronic pain, anxiety, and depression in 2013. At that time the only forms I knew of and was comfortable using were tinctures, topicals, and edibles.  In the past year I gave two more forms a try and fell in love with them! Vaping and isolates have become my favorite forms of CBD.  What I love about using a CBD isolate is that there are many different ways to use it, it’s easy to measure, and since a little goes a long way it is also cost effective.  Here are two of my favorite ways to medicate with CBD isolates.

Any medical statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure anything.

Straight up

The easiest and quickest way to consume a CBD isolate is to place it under your tongue.  It is flavorless and dissolves quickly.  Click here for milligram measuring spoons.  I have yet to experiment to see what dosage would work best for me for daytime use or to quiet an anxiety attack, but for night time muscle relaxation and calming I consume 25-30mgs.

Sprinkled

I haven’t tried cooking with it yet, as I have heard that if you cook at too high of a temperature the isolate loses effectiveness.  Instead I like to sprinkle it on a bedtime smoothie bowl or ice cream. I also like to add it to an evening cup of hot cocoa, but not until I give the cocoa a moment to cool off.  Again it has no flavor so it you don’t even notice it, that is until it kicks in!

My next project will be to make my own topical oil!

Anyways, if you are looking for an easy and affordable way to use CBD, I would recommend starting with an isolate.

CBD: Does the form you choose make a difference?

So you tried CBD once and didn’t achieve the relief you expected…. Maybe you tried a different brand and still didn’t reach the level of relief that you hoped for…..  Or maybe you just don’t know where to begin.  While the effects can vary from one brand to another, the form you choose can also make a difference.

Before I share the forms and dosages I take for various symptoms, I want to disclose that CBD is just one part of my pain management plan.  I am successfully reducing chronic pain from fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, degenerative disc disease, coccydynia, and abdominal adhesions with a combination of natural and alternative treatments.  Click here to learn more.

With that said, CBD helps me with many symptoms.  Below are the various forms that CBD is available in, which of my symptoms they help the best with, and my dosage.  When choosing for yourself, keep in mind that there is no right dosage.  You will have to experiment to find yours as I did to discover mine.

Vape

I prefer vaping CBD for anxiety.  One or two draws from my cartridge is all I need to return to my normal state when I feel anxious.  Normal is my goal, not sedated.  Vaping to relax muscles and reduce inflammation will put me to sleep.  Because I take CBD in other forms, I don’t have to use my vape pen every day to keep my anxiety and depression in line.  Vaping is convenient and affordable.

Medical marijuana dispensaries often carry CBD cartridges and battery pens for much less than what is available online. For those of you who don’t have access to dispensaries or would rather order online, there are many quality options.

Topical oils, balms, salves, and lotions

I use CBD lotions and oils daily! They provide immediate relief for minor muscle aches, reduces pain from severe aches, spasms, nerve pain, and stops reactionary pain in its tracks.  The best part about using topicals is that they don’t make me sleepy. I apply CBD topicals as needed throughout my day.

BioCBD+ Muscle & Joint Relief Topical Oil

Soothe Nano Relief Lotion

CBDfx CBD Hemp Cream

Tincture

Even though tinctures are the most popular form of consuming CBD, I personally do not use them.  The reason I don’t isn’t because they don’t work, because they do, instead it is because I have had one too many allergic reactions to the oils used to make them.  I do not know of anyone else who has the issue that I have, in fact many of my friends and family members love them and have had no problems at all.  With that said, tinctures are great for daily dosing for pain relief, muscle spasms, depression, and anxiety.  Like vaping, using a tincture will give you immediate results, which is important when hit with a panic or anxiety attack.

To use a tincture, place a few drops under your tongue.  How many drops and how often you will need to do it will vary from person to person.  Just remember that larger doses will act as a sedative.

The following recommendations are what works best for my friends and family:

Honey Colony

Remedi CBD Essential Drops CBD Tincture

Blue Moon Hemp Tru Blu CBD Tincture – Peppermint Flavor

Isolate

Medicating with a CBD isolate has recently become one of my favorite forms.  I take 25-30mgs of CBD isolate most nights, approximately one hour before bedtime.  I double my dosage when suffering from severe muscle tension.  Within an hour my mind and body are relaxed and ready for bed.  I add the isolate to a bowl of ice cream, a glass of juice, or just place it under my tongue and let it dissolve.  It is flavorless and effective.

MTN CBD Premium Hemp CBD Isolate Powder

CBDistillery 99+% Pure CBD Isolate Powder from Hemp

Capsules

Capsules are perfect for the person who doesn’t want to measure dosages, like the flavor of tinctures, or is unable to vape due to respiratory issues such as COPD or asthma.

Follow manufacture’s guidelines for dosing, as not every product is the same.  Also, note that some products are stronger than others.  While I may need 50mgs of an isolate at night, I can also get the same result from one 5mg capsule from BioCBD+.

BioCBD+™ Total Body Care

CBDistillery Full Spectrum CBD Infused Softgels

Edibles

Medicating with premade edibles is the most expensive form.  With that said, if premade edibles are what you would like to try, click here to see some options.  FYI, I have not tried any of the edible products featured in the link provided.

Take away

To answer the question of whether the form you choose makes a difference, it depends on which form works best with your body and achieves the results you desire.  If one brand doesn’t help you, try another… If one form doesn’t work, try another….. It may take some experimenting to find the right form, combination, and dosage, but whatever you do, don’t give up until you have tried various forms and dosages.  Also keep in mind that you may need more or less from one day to the next.

Two Reasons You Should Try Topical CBD Products For Pain Relief

Wondering if topical CBD products are worth trying?

My answer is YES!!

I have been using topical CBD products for seven years to relieve chronic muscle pain from fibromyalgia.  I also use them to reduce the reactionary pain I experience in my muscles and tendons from psoriatic arthritis, degenerative disc disease, and coccydynia.

Here are two reasons why you should try a topical CBD product for pain relief!

Topicals won’t get you high

CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that won’t get you high.  By using a topical CBD lotion, oil, or salve you will only experience relief in the area that you applied it to.  Although CBD tinctures, pills, and edibles won’t get you high, depending on the dosage, they may make you sleepy.  Topicals are perfect when you are on the go and need to stay awake.

Fast acting

CBD topicals are fast acting.  When degenerative disc disease, coccydynia, and psoriatic arthritis cause the tendons and muscles in my lower back to stiffen and scream out in pain, I apply a CBD topical oil on the area.  Within minutes the muscle pain is gone, my muscles relax, and then I am able to relax too.  I use it to combat muscle tension in my lower back, legs, feet, shoulders, and neck daily.  I also use them on my temples and base of my neck to relieve pain and reduce pressure from headaches and migraines.

Not sure which product to use?

I recommend that you try one of these!
