Woo hoo!!!! I have made it halfway through 2021 and am fairing better than I was this time last year! This time last year, my days and nights were spent lying in bed or on the sofa in tears from the intense pain from scar tissue and adhesions ripping apart my abdomen.
At that time, I had to pause PEMF treatments for fibromyalgia and psoriatic arthritis because increased blood flow near my abdomen increased my abdominal pain. However, this month, it was PEMF treatments to the rescue for a bunch of symptoms!

My Chronic Pain Management Treatments for June 2021
Here is a list of treatments and products used this month and which symptoms they addressed.
- PEMF Therapy: Inflammation on the spine, specifically on the sacrum and neck. It was also used to relieve nerve pain (unfixable injury from a surgery in 2008) in my left thigh.
- Red LED Light and Heat Therapy: While originally purchased to tone, tighten, and massage my facial skin, I later learned that it doubled as a pain relief device! So each night after treating my face, I applied treatment to my injured shoulder and knees. The heat felt amazing and decreased the pain enough for it to not prevent me from falling asleep.
- Solis 1100 Pain Management System: I use this one sparingly. The reason for this is that it numbs the pain like an opioid would. I don’t lose the use of my body, but I personally need to feel some pain to prevent myself from further injuring the area. Whereas PEMF Therapy addresses and attempts to correct the pain, Solis only provides pain relief. It will not stop future pain from the area.
With that said, I love this device for days when I am going to be out and sitting in my wheelchair all day. I can enjoy an entire day out by applying treatment to my lower back, hips, and knees (they hate being bent all day). Occasionally, I will use this device to reduce extra pain in my hips and lower back before bedtime.
- Arnica Salve: I used my arnica salve stick on my neck to reduce muscle tension and pain while at Disneyland.
- Good Night Lotion: This lotion has purposes for me. The first being that it relaxes my restless legs and feet. The second being that when applied to my belly at night, I have a regular bowel movement the next day. This occurs even when my intestines have been taken hostage by adhesions and scar tissue. I become constipated if I miss a day or two, no matter what I eat.
- Cannabis (Homemade edibles): My medibles help me sleep, relax muscles, reduce inflammation and anxiety.
- Heating Pad: I used to treat my lower back a few days after using ice to treat a slipped disc. I alternated heat with PEMF treatments.
- Ice Pack: Used only for the first two days after a disc slipped in my back. After that, ice no longer brought comfort to the area.
- No More Yeast Salve: I use this for relief from yeast and inverse psoriasis. It smells like a combination of pickle juice and cat piss, but doggone if it doesn’t work wonders!
Chronic Pain Management Improvements and Setbacks
By treating my neck between 6-9 hours a day with PEMF therapy, I avoided what would have been complete blackout migraine days from multiple extreme heatwaves.
Southern California weather in June can be beautiful or pure hell, like this summer. Instead of one extreme heatwave with triple-digit temperatures and swamplike humidity, we had four! Unfortunately, the pressure that brought each one in has triggered fibromyalgia and psoriatic arthritis flares. However, thanks to daily PEMF treatments to my neck and spine, the pain I am experiencing is significantly less than it could have been without.
With each heatwave, I also experienced uncontrollable twitches in my hands, feet, and eyelids.
Inflammation that caused the disc to slip was reduced within days with heat and PEMF therapy. The injury took place on Friday the 18th, and it slipped back into place Tuesday morning. I returned to normal activity too soon, and it slipped out again that afternoon. By Thursday evening, June 24th, it was back in place, and it has remained there.
Last but not least, I lost 4lbs this month.
Chronic Pain Management Modifications for June 2021
My only outings were a few trips through Starbucks drive-thru and two days at Disneyland. The rest of June was spent caring for my body with my air conditioner set at arctic freeze!
I used Walmart Plus for grocery delivery. Then sent my husband out to another store to pick up the few items they didn’t have in stock.
After suffering muscle tears in May, I took a conservative approach to our June visits. Thankfully I got to ride the new Spiderman attraction Web Slingers without injury. Also, having a power wheelchair made it possible for me to go off and ride a few wheelchair-accessible rides by myself.
Game Plan For The Next 30 Days
- Feel Better Fast a few times a week as it addresses my seasonal allergies better than any OTC or prescription allergy medication. For example, when I feel a cold coming on, I take it several times and usually feel better the next day and sometimes that night.
- Elderberry Elixir daily to support my immune system.
- Liver Love daily to support liver function and decrease inflammation from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
I am taking a month, maybe two months, off from Disneyland. It is not worth the money for me until all food services and attractions have reopened. I didn’t realize how many air-conditioned retreats had not reopened yet.
Lastly, I am relearning the art of pacing by taking my limitations with bending and lifting into strict consideration.
