Chronic Illness Patient Leaders You Should Follow and Support

Chronic illness patient leaders that you should follow and support. Living with fibromyalgia, arthritis, and endometriosis is tough, but the support, motivation, and resources that these patient advocates provide make it a little easier.

Chronic illness patient leaders work hard to motivate, educate, inspire, and even entertain both the chronically ill and anyone else who will listen to us! We spend countless hours every day on social media and our blogs/vlogs sharing our experiences along with tips to make living with chronic illness a little easier.

We don’t do this for attention or notoriety, we do it to empower patients to keep pushing when they feel like giving up, to educate the general public of what life with our chronic illness is like. and to give someone who is having a rough day a reason to smile.

Chronic illness patient leaders like myself work hard for you. We are members of various patient advisory panels to bring your voice to the pharmaceutical and medical community. We speak with government officials and ask for more funding for research of your chronic illness.

With that said, today I want to ask you to support us and our efforts to support you.

How to Support Chronic Illness Patient Leaders

There are many ways you can support our advocacy efforts. The first is to follow our blogs and social media accounts. Secondly, share our work. Email friends and family blog posts that you think might help them with their chronic illness battle or that might give them a better understanding of what you are going through. Share our social media posts on your timelines. There may be someone on your friend list who could use that information for themselves or someone else that they love.

Another way to support chronic illness patient advocates is to endorse their WEGO Health Award nominations. Throughout the entire month of July, you may endorse your favorite chronic illness patient leaders. You may endorse each leader once per nomination, but you may endorse as many patient leaders as you wish. The WEGO Health Awards are not a popularity contest. Your endorsements just show the judges and us that you appreciate our work.

Thank You

I just want to take a moment to thank you for your support. Patient advocacy in any form takes a lot of physical, mental, and emotional energy. And whether you have one or more chronic illnesses, that energy supply is limited. It is knowing that my work is helping others that keeps me going. So again, THANK YOU!!!

  1. Your post helped me understand the purpose of WEGO Health better. I was pleasantly surprised to be nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award this year. Thank you for being there when I first started my chronic illness blog three years ago.

  2. This is fab! A great way to let people know about Wego, the types of Patient Leaders that are part of the platform, and how we can support them. I’m amazed to have been nominated this year so I can say just how much of a difference it makes knowing someone has been in your corner to nominate you. I’ve been endorsing lots of bloggers with a fury this year! 😄
