May Fitness Buddy Challenge: May The Force Be With Us!

Have you joined The Disabled Diva’s Fitness Buddy group on Facebook?

Current members, scroll below to read this month’s challenge rules.

If not, it is time you joined the fun!

This group is for anyone who needs a little accountability and encouragement to help them stick to their fitness goals.Β  You could have fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disease, arthritis, diabetes, MS, or any other chronic illness.Β  In fact, you don’t even need to be ill.Β  I needed motivation and encouragement before I was chronically ill just as much as I do now!

The group goal is to move our bodies every day.Β  This means in whatever form of exercise you are able to do.Β  If you can go for walks, that’s perfect and if not, that’s perfect too! Whether you run around the block, walk to the end of your driveway, or stretch your muscles every morning, you are welcome.

This group is not about killing yourself or triggering a flare in order to exercise your chronic body.Β  Instead, it is about figuring out how to incorporate physical movement into your day without having it disrupt your life.

Each month a challenge is issued.Β  Members earn entries to win Starbucks and Amazon eGift cards just by following a few simple rules.

Sound fun?

May’s challenge

Challenge dates: May 6-31

Challenge: check in daily on the daily prompts by commenting with a WIN for the day. WINS can be a physical accomplishment, dietary, and/or emotional because our mental health is just as important as our physical health.

Example: My WIN for today was going for a walk after a busy day. or My WIN for today was only having one piece or chocolate…. or My WIN for today was not getting upset that my body required me to do less than yesterday.

Members earn one entry per day when they comment with their win on the daily prompt post which can be found in the announcements after 8am PST daily. Comments for each day must be made before 8am PST the following day. You must include the word WIN in your comment for it to count as an entry. Members can join the challenge at any time. There is no need to declare your goals this month unless you would like to.

There will be one drawing held within 5 days of the challenge end date (May 31st). However, there will be 4 prizes and winners. This month’s prizes are the winner’s choice of an Amazon or Starbucks $5 eGift card.

Those who follow Disneyability on Facebook and/or Instagram, and/or are members of my Disneyability Facebook Group know that I am excited and motivated to recover asap for the Star Wars Galaxy Edge opening at Disneyland at the end of the month. With that said I am dubbing this month’s challenge:

Chronic pain from psoriasis, fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, endometriosis, adhesions, coccydynia, and costochondritis has plagued me for 20 years. Failed by pharmaceutical medications, I began addressing it with natural and alternative remedies. That's when my life returned.
