Do you make New Year’s resolutions? I used to and actually kept some. Then chronic pain entered my life. Since my resolutions usually required some sort of self discipline I ended up giving up making them. With my body and mind being punished by pain on a daily basis I couldn’t handle adding more restrictions to my already restricted life. So after many, many years of not making resolutions I quietly made one last year. It was to spend more time enjoying life. And I am happy to report that I DID!!! This year I have decided to expand upon last year’s resolution and am inviting you to join me.
This year’s resolution is to find at minimum, ONE reason to smile everyday. Now some of you might think that is too easy or may not understand why this is such a big deal. Yes it may seem easy, but when you are battling pain on a daily basis is can be extremely difficult. This resolution is a big deal because when you are stuck in bed, day after day, week after week, and some cases months or more, being able to still recognize and feel joy is an amazing gift. But feeling joy is just a part of it, so many of us struggle to recognize the good in our lives. So I challenge you to join me in finding a reason to smile everyday of 2015. Starting January 1, 2015 and each day after, I will be posting my smile worthy thought or moment on my Facebook page and welcome your reasons to smile posts as well.
What do you say? Are you up for the challenge? Let’s start this new year with a smile and share them with each other all year long!!
Wishing you a year full of smiles and gentle hugs,
